A Few of Their Favorite Things (Christmas 2011)

December 27th, 2011

This year, I thought it would be fun to put together a little collage of some of Pinky’s and Sweet Pea’s favorite gifts. Mr. Claus must have thought that they were both pretty good little citizens this year, with the crazy amount of loot that they both received. This is just a snippet of some of their absolute favorites! (I think that everything was a favorite, but I didn’t have the time or space to showcase all items.)

7 Months Old

December 18th, 2011

This is post is long overdue and I also have Sweet Pea’s 8 month photo to post this week as well!

November 2011 8/13

Sweet Pea’s 7 month photo was certainly a fun one to take. If you remember from 6 months, he was all over the calendar spinning in circles and checking things out. Well, this time, he was only content hanging out on his back for a few moments, which limited the time I was allowed to actually capture the photo.

The Crumpler 1

He wanted to be sitting up. Oh, and to crumple the month of November with his pudgy little fingers! This calendar doesn’t stand a chance against this little guy.

I also captured what I like to call “The Many Faces of Sweet Pea.”

I’ll be taking a monthly photo of Sweet Pea on a big black and white calendar for the first year of his life for a sense of size and scale.

Christmas Parade 2011

December 18th, 2011

You may remember Pinky’s visit with Santa and the Christmas parade we went to after from last year. If not, you can refresh your memory here. Well, this year, we made sure to visit with Santa again, but there was one small difference.

Santa 2011

Why, Sweet Pea, of course!

And both of them enjoyed their visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. For the Christmas parade, our big girl decided that she didn’t want to sit with us, so she started out on the curb, right before the parade started.

But then, she saw her friend from class across the street and made her way over to sit and watch the majority of the parade.

And that meant we were stuck with only this little guy…

Pull Up A Chair

December 2nd, 2011

It’s been over a month since I’ve last posted and I have quite a bit of randomness to share. Since this is going to be a long post, I suggest you grab a cup of coffee and get comfy!

So we last left off talking about Pinky’s 7th birthday. Well, technically it was Sweet Pea’s monthly photo, but we did have a tiny bit more to talk about in terms of birthday stuff and that would be the itty, bitty, tiny production of Pinky’s birthday party. This year, we scaled back majorly and threw her a small get together with a couple of friends and our neighbors. No costumes. No crazy decor. Well, not too crazy.

Mini 7th Birthday Party 1

Just some spooky bats, pudgy pumpkins, sweet treats and a lovely little birthday cake that may, or may not have, resembled an iced pancake. I assure you, it was not.

We also made it sure Pinky had her annual visit to her favorite Mexican restaurant for some sombrero wearing and fried ice cream eating.

Halloween was also not as big around here as it usually is. Unfortunately, we were short on time and supplies, so homemade costumes had to be modified slightly.

Pinky had been planning on a much classier outfit, but I think that all of New England planned a tulle shortage, so we had to settle on a pirate look comprised of bits and pieces of my own costume from a Halloween party the previous weekend. (Phew, that was a long sentence!) It turned out pretty cute and I’m sure she ended up being much warmer for Trick-or-Treating.

Trick or Treat 1

Sweet Pea went as a little snow owl. I spent way too long cutting out felt and not enough time planning a costume that would actually be cute. Ugh. I guess it turned out ok, especially since the wearer has such an adorable little face.

Trick or Treat 2

We spent Trick-or Treat evening hitting the houses in our neighborhood for goodies. Pinky was very good with her thank you’s too. She raked in a ton of yummy candy, although the chocolate pieces seemed to somehow disappear into thin air. Weird.

This fall has been uncharacteristically warm and delightful. I’m almost sad to see it go!

My little Bro made a trip out to visit us for almost a week! We had so much fun with him while he was here. He took Pinky and I to a hockey game, visited the city, hung out at the park and beach, ate some yummy fresh seafood, and spent quality time with the kids. We can’t wait to hang out with him again!

Just throwing a little cuteness into the middle of this post. You can never have enough of that, right?

We celebrated Christmas a little early this year and Pinky was able to open some of her gifts. (The rest will come later.) She was super thrilled about her Monster High skateboard. She wanted me to clarify that she was doing a trick in this 1st photo, not falling. *wink*

A special thanks to Grandpa and Grandma for the skateboard and Uncle Christopher for the helmet!

We also carved out some time for jumping in the leaves. (This was the same day as the skateboarding.) Pinky and her friend had fun messing around in the crunchy leaf pile.

And last, but not least, I wanted to share that we are moving!!! Chris accepted a new position at his corporate office and will be starting in January. That means a lot of packing and cleaning will be going on in the next couple of weeks. Wish us luck!
