Ruler of the Elves

He must be ignoring my requests, because Sweet Pea has refused to stop growing at such a rapid pace. He recently had his 6 month well baby appointment he weighed in at 16 lbs. 5 oz. That now puts him in the 26th percentile for weight. And his height jumped to the 91st percentile from the 65th! Yikes! He has grown more than 10 inches since he was born.

He is also changing quickly with his developmental milestones. He can sit for a few minutes, loves to scooch around on his belly and is grabbing everything. I was lucky to get this photo of him laying on his back because every other time I tried to snap a pic, he rolled over to his belly and started to army crawl before I had even had a chance to completely stand up.

To be honest, most of the photos ended up like this. That little stinker is really making a mess of this calendar. With all the drool and wrinkles, we will be lucky to get through the next 2 months!

April, May, June, July, August, September & October

I’ll be taking a monthly photo of Sweet Pea on a big black and white calendar for the first year of his life for a sense of size and scale.

Pinky’s 7th Birthday was little different this year vs. years past. Usually, we get to make a big fuss about her on her birthday, and we sure tried. She had the breakfast of her choice before school. Purple pancakes, yummmm.

Then she quickly opened her presents from us after school and we packed everyone up and headed off to a rehearsal dinner. (She loved her presents, by the way.) Saturday morning was her final soccer tournaments.

And then we got ready for and went to a wedding for our friends.

Needless to say, it was a super busy day.

Instead of a huge costume party this year, she opted for something simple. All she wanted was to do was go to Chuckie Cheese’s, Where A Kid Can Be A Kid. So we went, somewhat reluctantly. And I was also a horrible mom-tographer. I barely took any photos. I swear it wasn’t because I was too busy playing games. OK, I don’t swear. That’s actually the reason. But here is what I did get…

So that’s it so far, but there should be some more to come because I have a few more birthday related events planned. Yay!

Last night, she went to bed as a 6 year old and this morning, she woke up as a 7 year old. Happy Birthday Pinky!

This is just going to be a random post of sorts. You know, tidbits of our lives that I want to share, but just don’t quite have enough time to post long individual stories about each. Plus, then you would miss all of the awesome stuff coming up!

Someone turned six months old. Tear. I love watching this little guy grow, but it is also sad to know that he is getting bigger and the days of my little Sweet Pea being little are numbered. He even started teething this past week. Double tear.

Pinky had her first official slumber party with her best friend at our house this past weekend. All in all, it went pretty smooth. I think the girls actually went to bed at a reasonable hour and everyone woke up in the same bed they went to sleep in. I was very excited about that. Especially because I knew that there would be a possibility of me having to run Pinky’s little friend home in the middle of the night!

This is kind of gross and vegatarians beware. You’ve been warned…

The other night, I made this disgusting delicious dish. It is actually meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but I figured it would be a hit with the ready-for-Halloween crowd. It was. Pinky took the pinky, of course. And once you dish it out, you don’t even notice that it looked like a hand. I will have to remember that for my zombie cannibalism days of the future.

Today is completely devoted to flowers. We have a wedding this weekend and I’ve been recruited to help assemble the bouquets. I’m also working on making a few of these pretty posies for headbands. This pink one will be Pinky’s and 2 more will be white for our friend’s little girls.

We finally got around to painting our bedroom. Yay! It only took 2 years. The color is Latte by Restoration Hardware, color matched in Olympic’s Low VOC paint. You may remember me mentioning that most of the house was painted in a not so lovely yellow color, but if not, you can refresh your memory here and here.

I love this new paint color. It makes the room so much more relaxing and calm. And that’s pretty much great for getting my snooze on.
