We Are Floored

September 22nd, 2009

This past weekend I decided that I wanted something to do. Not because there was nothing else to do, but just because I thoroughly enjoy being knee deep in a million different things at once. So I started ripping out the old nasty linoleum tiles on the floor in our kitchen. Luckily, for me, I had nearly all of them out in about 7 minutes. All it took was a little elbow grease and a pry bar, which I continued to call the “tile lifter upper thingy” until Chris informed me otherwise.

I was so proud of myself for accomplishing so much removal in such a short period of time, that I neglected to notice a minuscule piece of tile still stuck to the floor. That stinkin’ little, tiny, insignificant piece of yellowy yuckness took over 30 minutes to get off of the floor.

I also had a little bit of assistance along the way, once I moved onto the dining room. You can call her Helpy Helperton.

Here is a prime example of the reason we wanted this flooring out of here. The discoloration (left) was ridiculous and the fact that the tile dated back to the 1980’s only forced us to desire something new.

And voila! After only 3 days, we have beautiful new flooring! It took a small amount of blood, sweat and tears, but we are all still alive, so I’d say it was well worth it.

Double Dose

September 16th, 2009

Today I am a little video happy and have two to share. The first is rather exciting because it is an ultrasound of my nephew sucking his thumb. He will be arriving in February and I can’t wait to snuggle him and smell his babyness! The second chronicles our recent trip to the local zoo. You will see by the end how exhausting a zoo trip is for Pinky. She fell asleep before we even left the parking lot!

That’s a Direct Order

September 15th, 2009

Last night Pinky was playing with this interesting character with the pointing finger. She had him casually walk up the arm of the couch and stare at me with those four beady eyes for a few moments before she lifted his little arm (in the correct direction I might add) and stated in a deep voice…

That's a Direct Order!

Chris and I had quite a laugh afterwards. Sometimes she is so silly.

Am I Dreaming?

September 14th, 2009

This summer, in addition to my normally scheduled classes, I added a photography class just for the fun of it. It was an easy A and I can’t really say I learned a lot, but I did get to have some fun and show my creative side. For our final project, we had to compile 15 photos that fit a certain category and I chose to do dreams. My “dream” photos ended up being more like nightmares, but it was a super fun project and I think I may continue to work on it, even though class is over. Here are a couple of my favorites…

Whew…

I can breath again.

I just turned in my last final for the summer, and I must say that it feels exhilarating! I don’t know whether to party or sleep. (My bed is super comfy!) I have a little over a week of free time coming up and of course, we have a ton of plans to fill the time. Business trips. Home projects. Maybe a little sewing?? Plus, I have some major birthday party planning to start thinking about. I have a lot of ideas floating around in my head and will probably be sharing a majority of them with you. Oh, and expect another exciting video very soon…

I’m still sitting, wishing and waiting for some photos of a certain revamped chair and a particular wedding. Hint, Hint. You know who you are.
