But he is certainly not dead around here. Michael Jackson’s music would make an appearance all day and all night at our house if Pinky had anything to say about it. Of course, she enjoyed listening to Thriller and a few other favorites before all of the news about his death, but now, we can’t go for a car ride or listen to an ipod without a request for the gloved one. Here is some proof of her love for his poppy beats.
Being a student myself, fall is such an exciting time to go school shopping and find all of the supply bargains. I love to be organized throughout the school year with all of the essentials, plus some extras that make life just a bit easier along the way. Here is my list of top school supplies to have this year.

1.) Having a healthy lunch is important to get you through the day. By taking along this sleek insulated lunch bag from the Container Store filled with healthy foods, any student can watch their waistline by staying away from greasy cafeteria foods.
2.) Keeping up with the technology is important in this day and age. As a student, being able to transport your papers, lectures, etc. with ease is a necessity. This tiny 2 GB USB drive from Staples will ensure that your essential data is with you when you need it.
3.) Ok. I realize the LiveScribe Pen is more on the expensive side when talking about school supplies, but the fact that it knows what you are writing, can record lectures and do simple math calculations, as well as a million other things, definitely makes it a magical tool.
4.)Everyone needs a place to write all of those notes and Mead’s 5 Star Notebooks sure can withstand quite a beating a lot of studying. Durability is key to making it through a rough school year.
5.) Highlighters are an important supply to consider when taking notes to point out things that are important. Duh! This little breath of fresh air has built in Post-It flags so you can make sure all of that hard work you did to highlight those chemistry notes can be easily found.
6.) To make up for the high price on the do-it-all pen listed above, I’ve found a great (and more inexpensive) alternative to the ever popular PDA. The Uncalendar can keep track of everything you have going on in your life and it comes in different styles, sizes, and colors to suit almost everyone’s needs.
7.) Last, but not least is the North Face Borealis Backpack which is perfect to keep all of the aforementioned supplies in one spot, with room for plenty more!
Do you have any must haves for this year or even from years past?

Hi there! I’ve been somewhat absent the past week or so, but I have a great excuse. This past weekend, I participated in a family garage sale and got rid of almost 3 car loads of stuff that we no longer used here at home! A lot of my extra time has been spent digging through some old treasures, as well as the junk that we obviously did not need to keep around. (I find it really relieving to pass along those things that we no longer use to others who can.)
Pinky found a way to make a little extra change during the garage sale by selling some lemonade, complete with pucker power. In true lemonade stand form, the lemonade was sour, the cups were half full and the customers were plenty. But seriously, who wouldn’t buy something from this face? Add to that some super persistent selling skills and you have one successful little entrepreneur.

Did anyone else have a successful weekend? Did you do anything fun, exciting, or out of the ordinary? Leave a comment below and let us know!
