I completely forgot to add this to the blog last Thursday. Oops. Things have been crazy around here.

Oh Baby!

November 5th, 2010

Lately, we’ve been working hard on a big project! Well, it’s not the kind of project that shows results immediately. More like a 9 month project. That’s right! We are expecting a new addition to our family come May. A few short months ago we got the super exciting answer to the test.

Positive!

Pregnant!

And our little Sweet Pea has been growing nicely with a strong heartbeat, which is all we can ask for. Several weeks ago we had this ultrasound done and got a sneak peek at our new little one.

8 week Ultrasound

You may be wondering what Pinky thinks of adding a brother or sister to the mix and all I have to say is that she is more than excited!

Happy Halloween 2010 & 15/52

November 1st, 2010

I hope that everyone had a safe and happy Halloween this year. I’m super tired, but I wanted to quickly share with you tonight some of our Halloween happenings…

First off, we did some pumpkin carving. Pinky was pretty happy to be involved in the gut removal vs. previous years where she watched from a distance or completely was appauled by the destruction of the innocent pumpkins. We can now cross pumpkin carving off of our list!

We also did some ghosting. I’ve never heard of this before, but since we’ve moved here, we’ve been ghosted. Apparently, you are supposed to sneak up to someone’s door and anonymously drop off a sign saying “Boo! You’ve been ghosted” or something to that effect, then leave a little treat for your unsuspecting target to find in the morning. We made these little lollipop ghosts and pushed them into a piece of styrofoam to keep them up right. To add to the silliness, we included little “trees” from a bush outside our house and a stone with R.I.P. written on it. Then, we quietly placed them, with previously mentioned sign and a small bag of candy, at our neighbors’ and friends’ houses.

Ghosting

Another item on our list was to create some spooky art. Pinky helped me trace the template for these cute creepy little bats onto black cardstock, then I cut them out and we taped them to the wall. We like them so much that we may just leave them up year round! 😉

Bats!

To wrap things up, we did a little trick-or-treating (also on the list) with Little Red Riding Hood. The costume is almost entirely homemade using the magic of stitch witchery. I must confess that having a working sewing machine would have made things a lot easier, but it turned out adorably cute nonetheless. And this girl collected so much candy that I’m sure we will have it coming out of our ears until Easter!

6 Down/9 To Go

October 26th, 2010

Well, with less than 1 month left, we still have the majority of our Fall Fifteen to complete. Hopefully, we will be able to finish them all, but as of now, I will not hold my breath. How’s that for a “go get ’em” attitude? I guess we shall see.

Yesterday, we made a trip to the cemetary to attempt some gravestone rubbings. I thought this would be a cool little project that we could do and because our cemetary is pretty spooky, it fit right in with whole Halloween thing.

The Graveyard

We took with us the needed supplies: Parchment paper, crayons, scissors and some masking tape. After Pinky chose the headstone that she wanted to try and rub, I cut a piece of parchement paper to size, taped it up and she got to work, with a little help of course.

Gravestone

Since the headstone (from 1783) was pretty big, we weren’t able to get the whole thing, so we opted just to do the top carving. Here, Pinky is adding the word tombstone to the photo. Her choice, not mine.

Gravestone Rubbing

Although the parchment paper kind of worked, I think next time we will try something thinner, such as rice paper, if we can find it. We will definitely try to go back at some point and get a few more rubbings though. It’s just a matter of finding the time…
