2010 Christmas Card

This year is quickly coming to a close and I wanted to jump on here and say share a brief little recap of our lives for the past week or so. Unfortunately, the weather has kept us inside and we weren’t able to travel for the holidays like we had planned.

The dogs seem to be enjoying the snow though…

We haven’t done too much besides be lazy, which means we have pretty much neglected all housework in favor of lying around, watching movies and playing games. And we are enjoying ourselves. Santa Claus brought Pinky a Nintendo DS for Christmas, so she has been consumed with conquering the multi-level games. Today, I watched her with my camera and captured the many faces of a gamer.

Oh, and you can find the two most recent photos of the week here (22/52) and here (23/52).

Piper and Pinky both love to lounge on this bean bag in front of a toasty fire. These two crack me up! They are too cute there, snuggled together.

Boy Or Girl

December 15th, 2010

One thing that we have been looking forward to for quite some time is finding out whether the Sweet Pea was a boy or a girl via ultrasound. As the big day came closer, we all started to get antsy and looked for alternative ways to find out the gender.

Immediately, I thought to look at up Chinese Gender Prediction Charts, which base their predictions on the mother’s age at conception and the month of conception. The first one I found was on The Bump and showed that we would be having a bouncing baby boy.

However, further research concluded that there were many different Chinese Gender Prediction Charts available on the net with different answers on each, leaving our chances at closer to 50/50. So, we continued on in our search elsewhere.

Chris thought we should ask a Magic 8 Ball because those are obviously always 100% right. (Yeah, that was sarcasm.) While at Walmart, he asked the black sphere questions concerning both genders and the answers came up pretty much the same as these…

After that, Pinky was certain that it was a boy, but she still wanted to try out one last Old Wive’s Tale. Using my wedding band tied to a thread, she held it over my growing belly to see which direction the ring would sway. If it went in circles, the baby was female and if it went back and forth in a line, the baby was male. To her excitement, the ring went in circles and she quickly changed her mind about her future sibling’s sex. Seriously, she started planning matching outfits for her and her new sister to wear so that they could be twins.

Finally, the real truth came out when we had our ultrasound appointment last Thursday. And let me say that our little Sweet Pea is by no means a shy guy. That’s right. It’s a BOY! The little bambino made it very clear so that there was no question in our minds about his gender. I would even consider sharing a picture of the goods, if it weren’t his private parts. (Some things need to remain private, right?) However, I do have this adorable profile pic from the ultrasound tech.

Santa and Mrs. Claus came into town on a lobster boat. As much as we love our old Santa from the past this year’s Santa surely gave the previous one a run for his money with a grand entrance like that.

Pinky made sure to tell the Claus’ all of her Christmas wishes and was quite pleased to meet with them. (20/52)

Mish Mash

November 29th, 2010

The following post will be a mish mash of stuff that has happened around here over the past 2 weeks.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been in and out, traveling here and there. I now have a few moments to sit down and share a few of the happenings that have gone on.

Here are my little road trippers, all packed into our car. Pinky and Maverick were still alert, but Piper got comfotable behind the suitcase and fell asleep shortly after take off. (18/52)

1.) Someone turned Thirty One. Thankfully, it was much easier than last year’s birthday. And even though I spent half of my birthday driving, the other half was spent with family, which was all I could have asked for. Oh, the spice cake with cream cheese icing didn’t hurt either.

2.) We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I made sure to load up on plenty of the yummy food. Pinky was an excellent chef’s helper and as a reward was given the task of decorating a cute little gingerbread house. (19/52)

3.) We wrapped up the Fall Fifteen and although we didn’t quite finish every single task, we sure had fun trying. We did get to check off a leaf project,

a football game that I unfortunately missed,

and drinking apple cider which has no photo, but you will have to take my word for it. It was delicious and we all enjoyed a whole gallon of it. Hopefully we will be able to finish the rest of the list next fall, but for now, I’m welcoming the winter season with open arms!
