August 23rd, 2012

Well, summer is over and Pinky is back to school. Here she is ready for her first day of 2nd grade.

And here is her 1st day photo from last year…

And from Kindergarten.

Kindergartener

It seems like just yesterday she was that cute little toddler who would be clinging to your leg. Now, someone else has that job. *wink*

Sunset Walk

I can’t believe that Sweet Pea turned 16 months old this week. Time just seems to be escaping us. He is growing up so quickly!

Exploring the Town

August 15th, 2012

Recently, on a not too hot evening, we decided to get outside and enjoy the weather. (We were pretty house/pool bound when temps were in the 100’s.) Since we haven’t had much of a chance to get out and explore our town on foot, we thought it would be a great way to take advantage of the cooler temperatures. Come along with us to walk a few blocks on this super mini tour!

Here is a local barber shop with a scary fashionable model.

Pinky decided these boots were the perfect walking shoe, even though I urged her to put on some sneakers.

Sweet Pea also had some shoe issues. He didn’t want to wear his!

The Bike Parade 2012

July 5th, 2012

I hope that everyone’s Independence Day was fun and safe (i.e. no heat stroke!)

This year was the first of many that we’ve been able to hang out with my parents for the 4th of July. We ended up at a huge family gathering in the sweltering heat (think 100ish degrees) that was so fun, minus the heat.

I guess that every year they have a bicycle parade for the kids and this year was no exception. We made sure to pack along Pinky’s bike so that she could participate in the event. All of the kids decorated their own bikes with supplies of ribbon, tulle, garland, flags, balloons, etc. It was so fun to see each of the children’s bikes and watch them ride with pride!

We even decorated Sweet Pea’s stroller, since he is not quite ready to ride on his own yet.

During the parade, each contestant rode their bike past a couple of judges who critiqued their designs. Everyone won prizes too!

And Pinky won overall best for the girls! (She is rockin’ a crown for her win and a pirate face from face painting.)

The kids also had fun cooling off with some water games and playing around in while the adults chatted.
