The Bike Parade 2012
I hope that everyone’s Independence Day was fun and safe (i.e. no heat stroke!)
This year was the first of many that we’ve been able to hang out with my parents for the 4th of July. We ended up at a huge family gathering in the sweltering heat (think 100ish degrees) that was so fun, minus the heat.
I guess that every year they have a bicycle parade for the kids and this year was no exception. We made sure to pack along Pinky’s bike so that she could participate in the event. All of the kids decorated their own bikes with supplies of ribbon, tulle, garland, flags, balloons, etc. It was so fun to see each of the children’s bikes and watch them ride with pride!
We even decorated Sweet Pea’s stroller, since he is not quite ready to ride on his own yet.

During the parade, each contestant rode their bike past a couple of judges who critiqued their designs. Everyone won prizes too!
And Pinky won overall best for the girls! (She is rockin’ a crown for her win and a pirate face from face painting.)
The kids also had fun cooling off with some water games and playing around in while the adults chatted.
