6th Birthday Week: Part 1 & 13/52

October 20th, 2010

This past weekend we kicked off Pinky’s 6th birthday week with a bang. Visitors came from multiple locations around the country to celebrate the Pinkinator’s birthday and spend quality time with us. It was amazing to have so many we care about able to make it to her little get together. Of course, while everyone was in the neighborhood, we had to show them around our territory, since some of them haven’t been here since we moved. This included taking in the sights…

And fine dining with lots of seafood involved. A small surprise awaited my brother’s girlfriend as she cracked open a steamed mussel. Yes, that is a small starfish.

I think all of the excitement really wore some of them out!

Sadly, our visitors had to head back to their own lives today, but we are so thankful that they were able to make the trip here and share a little piece of ours. And to everyone who couldn’t make it, you were missed! Check out tomorrow’s post for some major party pics and details.

Pumpkin Pie, Yum

Another one of the Fall Fifteen was checked off this past weekend, thanks to my generous stepmom. It was absolutely delicious and totally hit the spot!

No Parents Allowed

Early today, Pinky decided that she was mad at us because we wouldn’t let her have a snack. Mind you, she had just eaten an apple and a fruit roll-up less than a half an hour before her request was made. So we felt justified in not allowing her to stuff her face even more. However, she claimed that we were being mean and trying to make her unhealthy by starvation. She stomped off into the living room and slammed the door behind her. A few seconds later, we heard the door open and close again, and then a yelp, so off we went towards the living room to see what the commotion was. Hanging on the door outside was this beautiful image that Pinky had whipped up in no time. Apparently, suggestive signs keep evil parents out. Of course, I thought it was pretty funny, so I grabbed my camera and documented my eviction. Don’t you love my eyelashes and frown?

Pumpkin Spice Is Nice & 12/52

October 9th, 2010

Today, we were able to conquer 2 of the Fall Fifteen. The weather here has been so crappy, rainy and cold that it has been nearly impossible to accomplish any of our list because most of the stuff is an outdoorsy kind of activity. Today however, it was absolutely beautiful out, with temperatures resting at a lovely 72 degrees and the sun shining happily. I thoroughly enjoy fall, but it was nice to have a little break in the weather.

After school, Pinky and I set out for Starbucks and I grabbed the coveted Pumpkin Spice Latte, while she chose a Vanilla Bean Frappucino. Yum.

Then, to further take advantage of the wonderful weather, we took a walk on a secluded wooded path that goes through our town.

It was very relaxing and Pinky enjoyed gathering random stones along the way.

Nerdy Chicks Rock 11/52

October 5th, 2010

So, I’m a bit late with the photo of the week and I’m lacking for blog content. Hopefully this little funny story and photo makes up for that!

Today, when I picked Pinky up from school, she told me about her day and then randomly sang to me a song which reminded me of my elementary days. And this song, inspired our photo.

“Girls go to college to get more knowledge. Boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider.”
