Lights, Camera… Ornaments?

Well, the tree is up and trimmed and certainly getting us all in the spirit of Christmas. Pinky has even found my stash of extra gift bags and taken to wrapping up “presents” for Chris and I, which she strategically placed around the bottom of our faux evergreen.

Oh, Christmas Tree Instead of a Star

Instead of a star or an angel like most normal people have, I whipped together this quick, cheap, and easy tree topper using the first initial of our last name. It’s made of sturdy cardboard and I found it at Jo-Ann’s for only 2 bucks. However, it is so sturdy that I had quite a hard time getting it to stay up there. (Nothing a little wire clothes hanger and some elbow grease couldn’t fix.) Pinky and I painted it last night with some silvery paint and then went over it with some glitter to add some extra holiday sparkle.

Pictured below are some of the ornaments that we have made/bought over the past few years. The snowflakes we’ve had since Pinky was born and the idea for the little glass baubles with the feathers inside was stolen from here last year. Since I always have the urge to DIY, this year we added some pine cones that we painted white to match the light and shimmery theme we have going on. And, as an added bonus, they are scented with cinnamon, so we get to smell their lovely aroma every time we pass by the tree.
