Spring Break

March 30th, 2009

I know this post is way over due, so here it is…

Last weekend, our little family made the drive to Chi-town for some much needed downtime. (How much down time do you really get with a highly energetic 4 year old running around in the middle of a active city?) We spent some great quality moments with family and friends and we also were able to let Pinky ride the L for the first time, visit the Field Museum (which had an awesome Real Pirates exhibit) and eat some great food. Thanks to our hosts and all of those who made time to see us!

Some of these images are a bit pixelated if you are using Internet Explorer and I’m working on the problem. Please bear with me. Firefox should be fine.

The End

March 20th, 2009

Today, I finished up my last final exam! It is such a relief to be done with school for the quarter. (Can we say Spring Break?) Feeling somewhat neglectful of my child for the last few weeks, I decided to pick Pinky up from school super early. We stopped by the store on the way home to grab a few spring-ish supplies and headed home to start working on our little project. View supplies below.

Pinky quickly started working on her little pumpkin, watermelon, and sun flower pots. She was even nice enough to look at the camera from time to time with that cute little face of hers.

Tomorrow we are heading to the Windy City for a mini-vacay. I’m sure our little plants will have a few sprouts to share with us when we get back.

Spring Has Sprung

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Even though there are still three more days until it is officially spring, someone forgot to send that memo to nature. Flowers are sprouting up and things are starting to turn green, regardless of the fact that the outside temperatures around here have been what could only be described as bipolar. As the weather starts to get a little nicer it definitely puts me in a mood to get outside and initiate “project plant.” Although, any lush green thoughts will have to at least wait until I’m done with these stinkin’ finals!

Oops

Tonight, Chris asked me to trim his hair up because it was getting a wee bit too shaggy for his taste. I reluctantly agreed and got to work on sculpting the perfect locks. I did what I always do: trim the main portion and then take off the cover of the trimmer and touch up any haphazard stragglers around the edges of the hairline. Just as I was finishing, I noticed that I had missed an itty bitty tiny little section on the top of his head, so without really thinking, I immediately applied the uncovered trimmer straight to that hairy little spot. What resulted was slightly short of disaster, at least to him.

Ruler of the Elves 2.0

Ahhh… The obligatory first post.

I’ve tried this blogging thing before, only to be overwhelmed with having to post and keep up. This time around will be different. This is for me. A way to express all of the crazy thoughts in my head and record memories and share ideas. Yeah. That is what it will be. Stay tuned…
