Family Vacation – Day 2 Part 2 & Day 3

August 4th, 2009

Okay, so this vacation series has been dragging on for way too long, so I will quickly sum it up so we can get to more exciting things!

Sunday evening was filled with car ride to Boston. It is an amazing city and super clean!

I made Chris drive me around Harvard for a bit so that I could say that I went there. *wink* Then we headed over to the river and I took a few photos of the all the different boats.

Unfortunately, the rest of our evening wasn’t as fun because someone had some homework due by midnight and I was chomping at the bit to get it finished.

On the 3rd day, we stayed around Salem and checked out all of the tourists attractions and some of the real estate. (Chris was particularly fond of the interesting store name in the middle photo.)

Overall, we all agreed that it was an amazing trip and we would love to go back and explore the area again!

Family Vacation – Day 2 Part 1

On Sunday, we woke up at a reasonable hour and took off for the beach, but not before hitting up another local restaurant for brunch. It was called Stone Soup Café and it was seriously the cutest little eatery with possibly the best wait staff ever. Oh, and the food was also amazing I might add.

It was a beautiful day and the temperatures were great. When we got to the ocean, Pinky was overwhelmed with excitement. She just could not wait to get her little toes in the water and play.

We found a ton of little treasures along the way, including 3 starfish, lots-o-seashells, 1 dead stingray, barnacles on drift wood, random crab claws…

And this ball of seaweed stuff.

There were a ton of these and they kept rolling in and out along the shore with the waves. I could only have imagined what Piper would have done with them had she been along with us, although I’m sure it would have first started with a romp in the ocean and a potty break.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of Day 2.

Family Vacation – Driving & Day 1

July 30th, 2009

Well, we reluctantly made it home from our fabulous family vacation to the east coast. We all had such a great time and we didn’t want to leave, but life goes on and we couldn’t miss any more work/school without getting too far behind.

Our trip started with a 6 hour drive up to New York to visit with my sister, aka ATM, and her husband Uncle A. Although we arrived late on Friday night, they welcomed us with open arms and we laughed a lot before we went to bed. On Saturday morning, they made us a delicious breakfast of homemade blueberry waffles, bacon, and eggs. It was absolutely delicious (you can’t go wrong with bacon) and the perfect start to our day, which included another lengthy drive. Before we left, I snapped a few pics of ATM’s awesome décor finds, but I will share those another day.

Later on Saturday night, we finally arrived at our destination, Salem, MA. After checking into our hotel, we set off to explore the area and get some dinner. We decided that we didn’t want to wait an eternity to get seated at some of the more popular eateries, so we chose a local pub, which had some of the best shrimp, scallops and pizza I have ever tasted. Our night then ended early so we could get some much needed sleep, but not before someone enjoyed a lot of bed jumping.

Day 2 coming soon…

With my husband safely home, the car in good working condition and our bags packed, we are officially ready for a much needed family vacation to the east coast. Look out ocean, here we come! We have a lot of fun stuff planned, so be prepared for some major photo updates and possibly a video or two. You can also follow me on Twitter to keep up with all of our vacation happenings.
