Ruler of the Elves

I know you’ve seen Pinky dance and I know you’ve seen her act, but is she musical?? Of course. Although a little off beat at times, (give her a break, she’s 5) Pinky lit up this little cafe when she performed with the band for almost their entire show. For the most part, she rocked on the tambourine, but the band even entertained her desire to sing her own solo, which she nailed. Unfortunately, I don’t have any footage of the solo, but here is a little montage of the Lil’ Miss shakin’ her tambourine. (Please excuse the poor videography.)

That sad, pathetic look on their faces is the one that I get when I’m dangling a Beggin’ Strip over my head while I hold the camera with my other hand and talk, whistle and coo to get their eyes on me. I’m sure they are laughing inside, but hey you gotta do what you gotta do.

I can’t believe how light their faces are getting! They are both only 6 years old, but they are starting to look like little old puppies, especially Maverick (right) with his over abundance of white.

Have you ever wondered what paint looks like when it gets really cold? I didn’t think so. But I found out when I opened a new can that had been stored in our cold garage for the past couple of days. I can think of a lot of things that this reminds me of. Most of them are unmentionable. And not very good for painting. Well, at least not to anyone over the age of 2.

You may have noticed that I mentioned moving in the previous post. Well, when you are moving out of your home, you must get it ready, so a painting we will go. When we bought this place, it had sort of a rainbow look going for it, which you can see from the top row of colors below. While we enjoyed the wide array, we wanted a more subdued look, so over time we have changed the colors to be more calming and spa like. Hence the bottom row of colors, many of which just need touched up. The rest of the rooms in the house are just plain flat white paint and we will also be covering up those at some point.

You may have noticed that the previous owners had some similar paint brand taste to us, but on our recent trip to the Home Depot, we found out that our favorite, Ralph Lauren, will be no more come February. Booooo. So we got what we needed to do the touch ups, but we still need to figure out what brand/colors to paint the other rooms left in the house that have remained boring white for the past 3 years. Any ideas?

Even though Christmas 2009 is in the past, we are still swimming in all of the lovely and thoughtful gifts we received this year. I try to keep the motto of “a place for everything and everything in it’s place,” so we’ve been attempting to find homes for all of our loot. I’m talking about organization people! And considering that we have a pretty big move coming up (Yes! We are Moving!!) we want to make sure that we are keeping the things that we love and rehoming/purging the things that we don’t, like all of the cassette tapes from my teenage years that have no place to be played and hang out in an old cardboard box in the basement.

We will have more on organization at a later date.

We must have been pretty good this year, because Santa went above and beyond. Pinky started opening presents from the big guy 2 days before Christmas arrived, even though she refused to tell him what she wanted. She received a multitude of games and activities, which means that none of us should ever have a reason to claim to be bored.

She also scored an array of books, music, dolls and the coveted toy of 2009, the Zhu Zhu Pet.

I think she was pretty happy with it.

And she found that little robotic hamsters are great for scaring Grandmas.

Someone also thought it was a fabulous idea to get her 300 plus temporary tattoos. I guess they figured it would look good with the earrings? That person may be pictured below. That person may be an uncle.

Another great thing about Christmas this year, besides all of our awesome presents, was the snow. We are so grateful for everything we got/have. I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday too!

I can not believe that 2009 has come and gone in the blink of an eye. It seems like just yesterday I was attempting to try and write 2009 on my checks, accidentally slipping in an 8 where the 9 should be. Oy!

Hoping that 2010 is a wonderful year for everyone, from our house to yours.
