She Breaks My Heart

March 9th, 2011

I’m sure it has a wee bit to do with the extreme pregnancy hormones that I have going on right now, but last night, Pinky said something that broke my heart. I cried. A lot.

Her: “Mommy? After you have the baby, either a few weeks or a few months later, will you go back to how you were before you were pregnant?”

Me: “What do you mean?”

Her: “I mean, like will you be able to pick me up again and stuff?”

Awww, she just wants me to be able to pick her 45.5 inch, 52 lbs. body up, and I can’t. And not just because I’m pregnant, but because she is so long and tall and still practically touches the ground when I try to hold her. Wahhhhh! She certainly didn’t get those long legs from me. Who told her she was allowed to grow up?

Nesting

March 3rd, 2011

Yesterday, I made an improptu trip to one of my favorite stores, Ikea. You see, several of the items on our nursery mood board are from the Swedish super store and since we are down to single digits in weeks as far as the countdown goes, it was time to stop in and grab some things to get this nursery closer to being finished.

Ikea Nursery Trip

One thing I love about Ikea are the prices. Everything is so inexpensive compared to many other stores which carry similar items. And although not everything is made of the highest quality materials, pretty much everything we’ve ever purchased from there has been pretty durable, so we can’t complain. So what did I get?

First on this list was the Knappa Pendant Light. We wanted a light for the nursery that would cast a softer glow than the celing light during those late night feedings, so we opted for this mod looking lamp which will probably hang from the celing above the glider (which we still have yet to purchase.) Not only does it look great, but it was fun to put together too, like a puzzle almost.

Next, I snagged a faux sheepskin, however, I can’t find the actual item on Ikea’s website. For those interested, it cost $12.99. Such a steal!

Then, I searched and searched for a black Ribba Picture Frame for above the crib. Unfortunately, they had every color option available except for black, so I opted for the white one and will probably end up painting it later on. My plan is to print out some name prints, which I will whip up in Photoshop, with the Sweet Pea’s initials and then put them over fabric in the frame.

Lastly, I grabbed a small black-brown Billy Bookcase which will go just inside the door of our tiny nursery. I hope to get some white baskets for the shelves which will hold (and hide) baby items like wipes, lotions, pacifiers, burp clothes, etc.

Also, I ended up throwing a few extras into my cart, including new sheets for our bed, a pizza cutter, a paring knife, some storage boxes and a little pot of ivy. The best part is that after adding up all of my items, my total came to less than $130. Score!

Boxed In 31/52

Recently, I received a package via Fed Ex which came in a relatively nice sized box. Little did I know that this box was more than just a mere shipping package. It was a hiding spot for little bodies, a space ship to the moon, and a place to store a multitude of stuffed animals so that they can easily be taken from room to room.
