Valentine’s Day Treat

Happy Valentine’s Day, readers! I hope you are having a totally sweet day with your love (or a plain ol’ day doing nothing special if you despise Hallmark holidays.)

For Cupid’s special day this year, Pinky wanted to make her own Valentine’s treats to pass out to her class. So I pulled out my handy dandy computer and loaded up Pinterest so she could search for some “pinspirational” ideas. There were plenty of fun and crafty photos, like this and this. And after what seemed like forever, she decided on this cute idea. The girl is picky. I have no clue where she gets that from…

So, we headed off to the store to grab some supplies. We found Blow Pops for $2.50/25 and a stack of craft foam for around $4. Which means that for around $6.50, we found all of the ingredients for Pinky’s project. Woot!

When we got home, it was time to get to work. I was in charge of creating the template for the mustaches and lips, as well as tracing them onto the appropriate color craft foam. (By the way, craft foam stinks. Like smells really bad. Eww. I had to take break from it for a bit because I was getting a headache from the stinkiness.)

Pinky cut out the shapes. Well, at least most of them. I think her hand started to hurt after about 20, so I finished them up for her. Then she had the task of putting all of the face extras on the Blow Pops after I cut a small hole in them with an exacto knife.

Finally, we glued on some little tags that read “I’m a sucker for you” on one side and “Happy Valentine’s Day (Love) Pinky” on the other.

She took them to school today, along with a box that we prettied up for her Valentine’s Day exchange, so I won’t know until later if they were a hit or not. One thing is for sure though. Pinky enjoyed them.
